FDB’s founder Michael Wilson has always been an artist first. His relentless creativity has always set him apart no matter what medium.

Growing up, his father taught him the basics of carpentry. And as a touring musician in his twenties, Michael utilized these skills to support himself between tours. It wasn’t until he apprenticed under a finish carpenter that he found his passion for woodworking and finish carpentry. For the next five years, he gained invaluable experiences working on the historic craftsman homes in Long Beach, Ca.

While employed as a drafter, Michael further developed his woodworking skills on the side, making custom pieces and doing finish work. As much as Michael appreciated his time drafting he needed to get back to making things full time. After moving around southern California for a few years Michael and his family ended up in Big Bear, Ca.

It was here that Michael found himself taking on the project management role with various remodels. The general contractors and clients found that his knowledge and experience in finishing work made him a valuable asset to any project.

Michael went on to officially launch Fiicus Design Build in January 2021 and continues to work in the San Bernadino Mountains and the greater Southern California area.
